New Project Monday & A Link Up!

It's New Years Eve!! New Project once again lands on a holiday :-)
This week I am working on 2 clear square vase/jars, my plan is to add a frost finish to them.  I will also be refinishing a Christmas cookie tin into a all year around storage tin, I'm thinking teal and black.

Another big project this week is joining the New Year's Organizing Revolution Challenge #1 over on Organizing Made Fun Blog! Here is the link
I'm pretty excited about this, I haven't tried a like up before so I'm hoping I can figure out how to link up correctly.  In the mean time I will be cleaning, organizing and writing a post in between my usual crafting.

Happy New Years Eve everyone, Happy Crafting!

New Project Monday: Vases and Jars!

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!
I debated weather or not to post today since this Monday happens to be Christmas Eve, but hey maybe some of you out there need a break from wrapping presents and cooking yummy food.  Or maybe there's some of you out there who have finished already and are putting your feet up relaxing.  I personally have all the food ready to too cook tomorrow morning, the presents are wrapped and in stockings or hiding from my cat, and G has a 24 hour shift at work, so I decided to pass the time with some blogging and crafting!

I was lucky enough to get some cool vases the other day from a lady that was moving and didn't have room to take them.  I also cleaned up my stash of jars I have been saving for a project somewhere down the line. I went to the store and got a nice selection of spring colored paints and I am really excited to see what kind of creations I can come up with!
stay tuned for spring colored vases and jars!

Table Top and Base

Here is picture of the finished table top, I think the stain really brought out the wood grain.

The legs of the table are going to be black as well as this bottom layer
The black covered the light wood really nicely

the legs are still drying and have a few more coats that need to be applied to the edges.  My goal was to have this project done for "Finished Project Thursday" but it's gonna be close, it might have to wait until next week.

Learning & a Table

The coffee table refinish is going.  It's not going smooth, but it's going. In my last post I showed this before picture
well here it is all sanded down, it's really quite nice don't yeah think :-)
Here is the table with some stain, when I took this pic I was so happy! I thought it was beautiful.
I later realized that this is way too much stain, it isn't supposed to be this shiny when it's just stained. 8 hours later it was still sticky :-(

So this morning I stared all over, I re-sanded the entire table top, then restrained, it is no longer sticky, no longer shiny, and quite lovely.  I then began painting the legs of the table their future black color. Tomorrow when the sun is out I take some pictures of the table top and painted legs :-)

New Project Monday: The Coffee Table

My new project this week is refinishing this old coffee table....
I got this table free, but it's ugly, old, and scratched.  My challenge for the week is to fix those issues and make it into a treasure someone would love to have in their home :-)

Up-Cycled Tote Bag II

I still has some fun scraps left over after finishing my tote bag last week, so I decided to give a smaller bag a shot.....
This one is is blue on the inside, has a velcro closure, and one long strap.

Thursday's Finished Project: Up-Cycled Tote Bag I

This tote bag was originally a pair of pants.  They were a nice thrift find but too small for G so I decided to re-purpose them into a bag! I didn't have a pattern just an idea that I wanted it to be tote shaped.  I decided to make it purse sized not book bag so that the pockets could be the focal point.

In the end the bag ended up being 12 inches tall, 8 inches wide, and 3 inches deep.

I am really proud of how this bag turned out :-)

Waiting....

Well today I have been given the gift of time.  I am at home waiting for an HVAC tune up.  The eta between 8:30 and 3:30.  Yikes! So my goal for today is to create an up-cycled tote bag out of an old pair of corduroys.  They are a nice brownish/khakish color that I think will look nice as the final project.  The hard part is I have set out about this mission with no pattern (I have a bad habit of doing this) so wish me luck and i will post the final project when it's complete.

Learning the Ropes

I am really hoping to build my audience and increase my sales on etsy, but after wondering why I wasn't getting any followers I realized I had a lot of work to do! First I didn't have a widgets set up! Derp so I added a followers section as well as linked my pinterest page and added a etsy mini :-)  I enabled search engines to find me and made sure my blog was open to the public.  It's a start right! I'm crossing my fingers I'll start growing a fan base.

My Etsy Shop

Incase you haven't had a chance to check it out here is the link to my etsy shop :-)
Wilton Charm also has a cool little Facebook page for you to check out, which also features direct links to my etsy shop :-)

I'm back!

I finally figured out how to clear some memory enough so that I should be able to post photos again!  This week I am taking a break from Wilton Charm crafting and working on some projects for our family.  Since tanks and capris aren't my original ideas I'm putting the link to directions under the pictures :-)

The stockings however I made all on my own.  I'm considering adding Ash and Aspen to them, I like stockings with names on them, and initials won't work in this case :-)
I've made 2 tank tops, a t-shirt, 2 yoga capris and matching stocking for Ash Fur and Aspen!
Still to come this week a photo project of Ash and Aspen, some warm doggy clothes for Aspen, and some upcycled pant bags!

Yay, Progress!

I'm not gonna lie, I was worried I was never gonna start selling my crafts.  Two rent checks and no sales was really bumming me out.  Last Tuesday I added some business cards, and a photo album of items that won't all fit on my shelf.  Apparently I didn't take into account the holiday weekend, because this is what my shelf looked like today!

I am sad turkey isn't selling :-( but I will leave him there until Thanksgiving maybe someone will give him a forever home.
Today I came armed with a lot more things for the shelf :-)

Also today I made some patriotic fabric candy canes <3

Joy

I figured it was time I started getting in the Christmas spirit, here's today's project...

This started out as a plain black picture frame with a few nicks in it.  I distressed the edges so they would all look uniform.  Then I wrapped the edges in twine.

Next I cut out the word joy on my cricut in a maroon, and attached it with black ribbon.
This picture is pretty dark but this is what it looks like on a wall.
A great project for a rustic themed Christmas.

Pinspired Decor

In between creating things for the shop and keeping the dog and cat from destroying each other I like to make things our home...
Fall
 Jars
 Pumpkins

 Us

Pinspired Geoff

In the evenings after dinner and before the gym Geoff watches TV and search Pinterest.  When I see a cool Idea I have to show him.  Some of the ideas are neat enough that he wants me to make him something.  Personalized coffee mugs were one such thing.  After being put on hold until after the craft show I finally tackled the Geoff coffee mug!
I had to get a good shot of the G that was pretty challenging!

Picture Frame Project

Things just aren't built to last anymore, but there are a lot of things that can be fixed or refinished!  For example I got this picture frame for free the other day from a lady who is moving and had yard sale left overs.  It's nothing super fancy, it's a wooden frame painted green, but the glass was not broken, the frame was in good condition, and it still had the back. The only messed up part was one edge. Notice how the edge of the frame had been scratched.

I got out some sand paper and sanded down the rest of the edges (inside and out) and what do ya know, the frame looks like it was meant to be that way!
I have already mentioned my addiction to Pinterest and really wanted to frame some leaves.  Since I now had this cute little frame I though I would give it a shot. This leaf was in my back yard.

Then I turned it into Fall Decor
I love being able to reuse something that was gonna be thrown in the trash :-)

Primitive Snowpeople

Most of my crafts involve painting stuff on stuff, there's pretty much nothing I won't try to paint on (at least once).  My recent addiction to Pinterest however has led to to branch out an try new things.
I love primitives, they are so warm, inviting and stinking cute! Here's my first attempt, snow people!

These little guys are now available from Wilton Charm!
